Direct answer
No — Solarpunk does not currently support full crossplay.
As of July 15, 2026, full crossplay is still not something buyers should assume. Developer announcements now say cross-platform multiplayer is being worked on, but that is future work rather than a current supported feature. That means a player on Steam should not assume they can join a friend on PS5, Xbox, or Nintendo Switch 2. Solarpunk does support online co-op, but the safe purchase answer is: plan to play with friends on the same supported platform unless an official update says otherwise.
July 2026 update: crossplay is being worked on
A June 23 Steam announcement said cross-platform multiplayer is one of the bigger topics the team wants to work on, and a July 3 update repeated that crossplay work is happening in parallel with fixes and improvements. That is useful roadmap context, but it is not the same as live support. Until an official release note says crossplay is available, the matrix below stays conservative.
Crossplay status by platform combination
| Combination | Status | What it means | Checked |
|---|---|---|---|
| Steam ↔ Xbox | Not supported | Do not assume Steam players can join Xbox sessions. | July 15, 2026 |
| Steam ↔ PS5 | Not supported | Do not assume PC and PS5 friends can share a session. | July 15, 2026 |
| Steam ↔ Nintendo Switch 2 | Not supported | Do not assume Steam and Switch 2 co-op compatibility. | July 15, 2026 |
| Xbox console ↔ Xbox PC app | Not confirmed as multiplayer crossplay | Xbox Play Anywhere affects access inside the Xbox ecosystem, but it does not prove every multiplayer path. | July 15, 2026 |
| PS5 ↔ Nintendo Switch 2 | Not supported | Console-to-console crossplay is not a safe assumption. | July 15, 2026 |
What Solarpunk supports instead
Solarpunk is still a co-op game. The important difference is that it is online co-op without full cross-platform matchmaking.
Current platform and developer information supports these practical points:
- solo play is supported
- online co-op is supported
- one player hosts the session
- public dedicated servers are not part of the current setup
- Airships and inventories are personal in co-op
For party planning, start with Solarpunk Player Limit, then check How to Play Co-op.
Crossplay vs Xbox Play Anywhere
These terms are easy to mix up:
- Crossplay means players on different platform families can join the same multiplayer session.
- Xbox Play Anywhere means eligible Xbox purchases can work across Xbox console and Windows PC in the Xbox ecosystem.
- Cloud play means the game can be streamed through eligible access, not that every platform can join one lobby.
- Same-platform co-op means friends on the same supported platform can play online together.
If you came here searching “is Solarpunk cross platform,” the answer is: the game is on multiple platforms, but full cross-platform co-op is not currently supported.
