Direct answer
To get your first Airship in Solarpunk, follow the Dock path, collect the required crashed Airship component, build the Airship from your Dock, and use it for short resource trips before pushing farther out.
The first Airship matters because it changes the game from “search the starting island harder” into “fly to the right island for the resource you need next.”
First Airship route
Use this route as a clean checklist:
- Stabilize water, food, and basic tools.
- Keep following the early research path until the Dock route opens.
- Collect the crashed Airship component when you can reach it.
- Build and place the Airship Dock in a clear area.
- Build the first Airship from the Dock panel.
- Practice docking before carrying important resources.
- Fly short routes first, especially toward early Copper and Traderbot progress.
Dock and first build basics
The Dock is the Airship’s home base. It is where the first Airship is built and where later upgrade steps become important.
Before your first serious trip, check:
- you have a clear approach path to the Dock
- you understand the dock prompt
- you have enough tools for mining or gathering
- you have water and food for the trip
- you are not carrying your entire base inventory into a risky first flight
What to do on your first flights
Do not treat the first Airship as a random sightseeing tool. Tie each flight to a goal:
- find Copper for the next upgrade chain
- visit Traderbot and track the trade sequence
- scout nearby islands inside your range
- mark which resources become available outside the starting island
- return before your inventory becomes a problem
Safe docking tips
Airships drift and keep momentum, so approach slowly.
A safe docking pattern is:
- line up from a distance
- slow down early
- adjust height before the final approach
- hover near the Dock
- dock only when the prompt appears
If your first landing feels messy, practice near home before flying with rare materials.
Co-op Airship rule
Airships are personal in co-op. If your friend cannot use your Airship, that is expected behavior: they should work toward their own Airship and Dock path.
This also affects group exploration. A co-op team is smoother when every regular explorer can travel independently.
