Solarpunk Animals Guide

Farming

Direct answer

Solarpunk animals are a mid-game farming system, not just background decoration. The practical animal path is:

  1. unlock the relevant animal and transport research
  2. prepare housing, feeding, and water support
  3. use Animal Transport when the animal is not on your home island
  4. stabilize Chickens and Eggs first
  5. expand into Pigs, Pig Shelters, Sheep, and Truffle-related progression only after the basic care loop works

If you need to move animals between islands, read How to Use Animal Transport next. If you are stuck on Eggs, start with How to Get Chickens.

Current community animal-taming video used as a visual reference; the page separates verified systems from patch-sensitive prompts.

What is verified about animals

The current source set supports these safe facts:

  • Solarpunk includes animal and farming systems
  • the Survival Guide explains important systems, including animal basics
  • each player has their own inventory in co-op, so animal-resource planning still matters per player
  • Chickens and Eggs are a real progression topic
  • Animal Transport is a real enough blocker to deserve its own guide

Exact recipes, timings, and platform-specific prompts can change with patches, so treat any single video as a route check rather than permanent gospel.

Recommended animal progression order

Use this order if the animal system feels scattered:

  1. Build a stable crop loop first.
  2. Save Wheat instead of spending it all immediately.
  3. Unlock or prepare the Chicken care setup.
  4. Start the Egg loop before over-expanding into later animals.
  5. Unlock Animal Transport when animals need to move between islands.
  6. Expand into Pig and Sheep topics after your basic feed and water routine is reliable.

This order prevents the most common mistake: finding animals before the base is ready to care for them.

Chickens and Eggs

Chickens matter first because Eggs become one of the earliest animal-product blockers.

Before chasing more Chickens, check the basics:

  • is the Chicken housed correctly?
  • does it have feed support?
  • does it have water support?
  • are you spending Wheat so fast that Animal Feed stalls?
  • did you move the animal correctly if it came from another island?

If Eggs are the problem, the likely issue is not “more exploration.” It is usually care setup, feed timing, or the wrong step in the Chicken workflow.

Animal Transport

Current guide evidence points to Animal Transport as a receiver-and-consumable style system:

  1. progress into the blueprint tier that includes Animal Transport
  2. prepare the receiving destination
  3. use the transport item on the animal
  4. choose the receiver destination
  5. check the destination before assuming the animal vanished

Because transport prompts and bugs can be patch-sensitive, keep the setup simple before moving rare animals.

Current release guides agree on the most useful transport details:

Pigs, Pig Shelters, Sheep and Truffles

After Chickens, the common later-animal blockers are Pigs, Pig Shelters, Sheep, and Truffles. That does not mean each topic needs a separate short page yet.

Use this hub rule:

  • Pigs belong to the later animal expansion path.
  • Pig Shelter usually means the player has found the animal but not the correct housing/care step.
  • Sheep should be treated as another animal-care branch until exact product and breeding rules are verified.
  • Truffle should be treated as an animal-product/progression topic that depends on getting the Pig loop right.

For the Pig branch, the current guide set is stronger than it was at launch: multiple current sources connect Pig Shelter to Tier 6-style progression, Carrot pressure, and Truffle production from happy Pigs. That is enough to include the Pig/Truffle route here, but not enough to split it into several thin pages yet.

When one of those subtopics needs a deeper walkthrough, it should become its own full guide. For now, this hub keeps the later-animal path in one place.

Animal care checklist

Before blaming a bug, check:

  1. housing is built and placed correctly
  2. the animal is assigned or transported to the intended receiver
  3. food support is available
  4. water support is available
  5. enough time has passed for the product loop
  6. you are not mixing up a research unlock with a crafted item
  7. your platform build matches the guide you are following

Common animal problems

My animal did not arrive

Re-check the receiving setup first. Animal Transport is easy to misunderstand if the destination is not ready.

Chickens are not producing Eggs

Treat this as a care-loop problem first: housing, feed, water, and timing all matter more than simply finding another Chicken.

I found Pigs but cannot progress

That usually means the shelter, care, or product step is incomplete. Do not split resources across too many animals before the Pig loop is stable.

Truffle is blocking me

Truffle should be handled as a later animal-product blocker. If you have not stabilized Pig care, solve that first.

FAQ

Does Solarpunk have animal systems?

Yes. Official store and publisher materials describe animal and farming systems, and current guides confirm Chickens, Eggs, Pigs, Sheep, and Truffle-related progression questions.

What is the first animal blocker most players hit?

Chickens and Eggs remain the first practical blocker because they connect to feeding, care, and early animal-product progression.

Why does Animal Transport matter?

Because animals are not just collected like a loose item. Current guide evidence points to a receiver-and-consumable transport setup after the relevant blueprint progress.

Where should I start with Pigs, Sheep, and Truffles?

Start with the complete animals hub first. It explains how animal transport, shelters, and products connect before you chase one animal or item in isolation.
